The best place to meditate is on the pot. If you have a comfortable toilet seat and a stout lock on the door, there’s no telling what great thoughts might emerge. Martin Luther dreamed up Protestantism while sitting on the toilet at Wittenberg monastery, and we know what a big movement that became.

Love is one of the most intense feelings felt by man; another is hate. Forcing yourself to feel indiscriminate love is very unnatural. If you try to love everyone you only lessen your feelings for those who deserve your love. Repressed hatred can lead to many physical and emotional aliments. By learning to release your hatred towards those who deserve it, you cleanse yourself of these malignant emotions and need not take your pent-up hatred out on your loved ones.

Wrote a short essay about - and defending - LaVeyan Satanism for my Catholic school English class. I’m sure I’ll get 100.

We live in a society of victimization, where people are much more comfortable being victimized than actually standing up for themselves.

Satanism

return-of-de-worm:

Spiritual Satanism is a life loving religion. Satan accepts us as we are, but guides us to advance ourselves to where we evolve to a higher level. Spiritual Satanists are free to live their lives as they choose- responsibility to the responsible. We live by natural law and encourage everyone to develop themselves to their fullest extent.

This kind of nonsense in the Satanism tag is why I hate tumblr sometimes.

I don’t understand this idea that so many Pagans have that ‘we’ (as Pagans) need to seperate ourselves from Satanists.

Yes, Satanists can be witches. Yes, Satanists can be Pagans.

Is it a lack of understanding of what Satanism actually is? Is it a need to be accepted by the more ‘mainstream’ faiths, so they dispel Satan to be accepted? Is it a problem with still being in that ‘Satan is bad’ Christian mindset?

I seriously don’t get it.

This is an intriguing idea… how can a Satanist be a Pagan at the same time? Just curious about your definitions at work here.

Why couldn’t they be a Satanist and a Pagan? Pagan is an umbrella term that encompasses many different religions.

As I talked about before, there really isn’t a very good definition of what Pagan actually means anymore. The most commonly used definitions include groups (like Hindus, Buddhists, Native American and Inuit beliefs, and even some Recon paths), that don’t want to be considered or associated with Paganism. And they sometimes exclude groups (like Atheist Pagans) that DO want to be considered Pagan.

It’s basically come down to anyone who wants to be considered Pagan is a Pagan.

I’m not so sure that definition holds very much water. Paganism, for me, has always entailed some sort of worship/belief in other gods/goddesses that aren’t, well “God”. This is probably the first I’m hearing of “Atheist” Paganism, which confuses me as well.

However, since Satanism is an atheistic religion and most people tend to not understand that fact, I’m sure they’re in the same boat I’m in now. Enlighten me further, if you could.

I am not, nor have I ever been a representative of the Church of Satan or its affiliates.
